Text: John 10:27

  1. Let God give you rest
    • Heb 4:9-11
    • God gives us rest, we need to give it to the world.
    • Heb 4:12
  2. Let God keep you strong
    • Isa 40:8
  3. Let God be your shield
    • Pro 30:5
    • Every word of God is pure. He is our shield! We can trust in him. You can pour out your heart and soul to God. You want someone to listen to you? Give it to God. The one who can help you.
  4. Let God word grow and perfect you
    • 1 Joh 2:5
    • Be in the word of God. He will continue to work. He will grow you and perfect you until the day of Jesus Christ. You get a daily washing off of the world when you stay in the word of God.
  5. Let God bless you
    • Luk 11:28
    • We need to hear, we need to keep it, we need to be still and know that God is there. BUT! we need to be still and hear the word of God. Stop, slow down, rest, be quiet and listen. Let God bless you. Hear the word of God.
  6. Let God give you boldness
    • Act 4:31
    • Be in prayer. Ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit. Ask God for boldness. He will give it to you. Who is it that you need that boldness for? Ask God!
  7. Let God refresh you with new seed
    • 1 Pet 1:23
    • Let the word of God abide in you. Rest in you, live in you. Cuddle up with the Lord. Let God's word and his Love consume you.
  8. Let God's word guide you
    • Mat 4:4
    • Are you looking for wisdom, guidance what on how to proceed? Give it to God, rest in God, listen to his word, be in prayer. God will give an answer. It may not be what we want to hear but he will answer you. (2 Tim 3:15, Heb 4:12, 1 Pet 2:2, 1 Pet 5:7)
Conclusion: By reading the word of God you will receive rest, strength, shield, grow, blessed, boldness, refreshed and guidance. (1 The 5:21, Rom 10:17, Rom 10:13)

Book Review-In His Steps

IN HIS STEPS (Charles M. Sheldon)

Sometimes the answer to one question changes everything

When Rev. Henry Maxwell asked the members of his small church to pledge not to do anything, whether significant or mundane, without first asking themselves the question "What would Jesus do?" he had no idea what the next year would bring. Neither did those who agreed to this seemingly easy task. One by one, their lives would change. But what they never anticipated was how their entire town would be affected. Now the novel that has changed millions of lives can change yours as well. Discover this classic story for yourself and find out why the words penned more than a century ago are more powerful than ever.

CHARLES M. SHELDON was a pastor in 1896 when he chose to preach one Sunday night on the question "What would Jesus do?" A sermon became a series, that became an article, that became a book, that became a movement. And the book has sold over 30 million copies.

Bible Study-God can use you

Text: Joshua 1

Have you ever wanted to be used by God?
God uses people who realize they are weak vs 6, 7, 9, 18

  • Moses was gone, now God had raised up Joshua to lead the people of Israel and he hardly felt adequate for the task.
  • it isn't a bad thing to discover that we are weak. In fact, it is quite good (2 Chro 7:14)
God uses people who are faithful.
  • Joshua had been Moses minister (Jos 1:1-2)
  • Joshua was the man who was there to help Moses get the job done. He had been born in Egypt and, along with Caleb, would be the only Israelite from the great Exodus to survived the wilderness wandering and make it into the promised land.
  • Joshua was a faithful man and a worthy successor to Moses.
God uses people who study and live by his word. (Joshua 1:8, depart, mouth, meditate, observe, prosperous.

God uses the person who is patient and waits on his timing. (Joshua 1:11 giveth, possess)
  • Why do we sometimes in our lives have to go around and around. We know what we should do, but we want to do it our way. Finally, we decided to try it God's way.
  • We need to learn to wait on God's timing because there are a time and a way to do what God calls us to do. We see this is how God used Joshua in the battle of Jericho in Joshua 6.
God uses the person who cares about lost souls.
  • There was a lost soul to be saved before the Israelites entered the Promised Land, and her name was Rahab.
  • Joshua 2:1 (faith was growing)
  • Joshua 2:10 (we have hand)
  • Joshua 2:11 (heard, Lord.
  • Every soul is precious to God. God always cares about individuals, and so should we.
  • Deut 4:29 (find, seek, heart)
God uses the person who sets himself or herself apart.
  • Joshua 3:5 (sanctify, apart)
God uses the person who knows how to work with others.
  • Joshua 1:10-15
  • Joshua 1:16 (sendest)
  • Joshua 1:17 (harkened, all, with.
  • Joshua was communicating with the people he was leading, and he was encouraging them.
  • How about you are you willing to be used for God?
  • Is there something you already know God can use you to do? Are you doing what he has for you?
