Lifting up the Coronation of Christ

Text: Mat 17:1-8; Phil 2:5-11

  • Eph 9:12 - Not of works but by faith
  • Titus 3:5 - Not of works
    • You are a sinner
    • He will bring you trials that you will not understand but he wants to see your obedience (Abraham) up in the mountain.
Christ Transfigured
  • Metaphor - to change an appearance, to be changed. (metamorphose, butterflies)
  1. His place in Heaven
  2. His pitty on mankind (Isaiah 6; Gen 2; Gen 6; Gen 9; Phil 2:6; Joh 1:1-3; Rev 5:13; Rom 8; Joh 14-16)
  3. His position among mankind (Phil 2:7)
    • What he rejected
    • What he embraced
  4. His punishment among mankind (Phil 2:8)
    • Song, Poem, God crucifixion (2 Cor 9:14)
  5. His power to redeem mankind (Phil 2:8)
    • Death - escape from hell
    • Crucifixion - Away to heaven (Phil 3:10)
  6. His praise that will come from mankind
    • Phil 2:9-11
    • Every knee will bow
    • Every tongue will confess (Rev 5:13)
One day you will bow the knee... will you do that today?

Christian Transformed (Rom 12:2; 2 Cor 3:18)

  1. Our purpose in existing - (Eccl 12:13)
    • What were the commandments given to Adam & Eve?
    • Why do we struggle and battle with our flesh?
  2. Our power of choice - (Gen 3:9-21)
    • Power of free will.
  3. The pain of conforming - (Romans 12:2)
    • Conformed-to falls in and is like everyone else.
  4. The process of transforming - (Romans 12:2)
    • Transformed-renewing of your mind.
    • Are you making an effort to live like Jesus?
  5. The prizes that await
    • Crown of life (James 1:12)
    • Incorruptible crown (1 Cor 9:25)
    • Crown of righteousness (2 Tim 4:8)
    • Crown of glory (1 Pet 5:2-4)
    • Crown of exaltation (1 Thes 2:19)
  6. Our placement of the prizes (Rev 4:10-11)
All together: You Christian want to work hard here, so when you go to heaven and give them all to the king to lay on his feet.
