• worldliness, denial of mistakes, tearing down others
• Withdrawal
• self-protection, fear of rejection, me, myself and I
• Anger
• Jealousy, bitterness, provoking fear
• Attachments
• Approval from others, looking for completeness in a person, exchanging "rescue by God" for "rescue by men"
• Pity
• Self martyr, becoming the victim
2. Washing off the makeup
• Pride-1 Peter 5:5-7, Galatians 6:3-5, Proverbs 3:5
• Withdrawal-1 John 4:18 "Love always carries with it the risk of rejection."
• Anger-James 3:13-18, 1 John 4:20
• Attachment-2 Corinthians 12:9, Galatians 1:10, Job 11:13-15, Psalms 40:2-4
• Pity-Psalms 51:12 "When you are feeling unloved and lonely ask God to show you how much he loves you"
3. The Permanent Solution
• My sufficiently must be in God-2 Corinthians 3:5, James 5:16
• My security must be in something greater than myself-1 John 4:11, Psalms 71:1-3, Proverbs 31:30
• Recognize that my flesh hinders my security-Psalms 139:14
• My security comes through continues maintenance-Phillipians 4:8, 1 Peter 5:8, Philippians 3:15
