Bible Study-Over Whelmed Spirits

Text: Psalm 61:2

"When my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I."

Ten things to help guard against stress & burnout:

  1. Consistent Bible Reading & Prayer (Luk 10:39-42)
  2. Rest (Gen 2:2, Exo 31:17)
  3. Eat Healthily (1 Cor 10:1-4, Psa 78:23-26)
  4. Exercise (Jer 9:24)
  5. Do something pleasurable and fun (Gen 2:9)
  6. Spend time with Family and Friends (Gen 45:1-15)
  7. Learn to say "NO" (Eccl 3:1)
  8. Set boundaries on your time (Ecc 3:2-11)
  9. Learn to Delegate (Exo 18:19-23, Chr 3:3)
  10. Manage wisely (Deut 4:40)
Conclusion: We need to rely on the Lord for our strength. We can look at the life of David and how he related several times in the Psalms about being "overwhelmed" At each, he knows where to turn to. He turned to God and got his strength from the Lord.
  • Psalms 61:2; I cry unto thee when my heart is overwhelmed.
  • Psalms 77:1-3; I cried unto God with my voice, I sought the Lord, I remembered God.
  • Psalms 142:1-3; I cried unto the Lord, I poured out my complaint before him, I shewed before him when my spirit was overwhelmed within me.
