Psalms 90: The B Prayer Lesson 2: The Lord, our Dwelling Place

Introduction: "Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations." (Psalms 90:1)

  1. How can God be my dwelling place when he is. . .
    • Everywhere (Ps 139:7, 10)
    • All powerful (Col 1:17, Heb 1:3)
    • Always able to find me (Jer 23:24)
  2. You can make God your dwelling place when you
    • Seek him (2 Cor 15:2)
      • seek: to resort to seek with care, enquire, require; frequent (v)
    • Draw nigh to him (James 4:8)
    • Feel after him (Acts 17:27-28)
      • feel: 1. to handle, touch 2. mentally to seek after tokens of a person or a thing.
  3. When God is your dwelling place, he
    • Keeps you in peace (Phil 4:7)
    • Is your refuge and strength (Psalms 46:1, 62:8)
    • Is your salvation, glory, and strength (Psalms 62:7)
    • Is your hiding place (Psalms 32:7)
    • Is your strong habitation, rock, and fortress (Psalms 71:3)
    • Will never leave you nor forsake you (Heb 13:5b)
Conclusion: Moses settled it by making the Lord his dwelling place, knowing he would be leading Israel through the wilderness for the rest of his life. Likewise, we need to make peace immediately upon finding out we will be living a life other than what we had originally thought

Additional Study;
  1. What does Isaiah 57:15 say about God's nature?
  2. What does Genesis 1:1 assume about God's existence?
  3. Can the same thing be said about Jesus Christ (John 1:1, Colossians 1:16-17)
  4. Based on this, how could Jesus take all of our eternal sin debt on Himself on the cross?
  5. What does contemplating God's eternal nature do for us (see Isaiah 26:3-4)
